The Facebook company profile creation feature is now also available on Instagram. Now you can upgrade your Instagram account and activate your business profile.
Activating an Instagram company profile gives you some new and exciting features. For example, after an upgrade you can add more information about your company to your profile than before. This makes it easier for your customers to reach you – e.g. by clicking on a new “contact” button next to your profile picture. In addition, an Instagram company profile activates additional features such as helpful analysis tools.
But probably the most exciting message for all advertisers is: with a business profile you can now also highlight or advertise native Instagram contributions!
In this article I’ll show you how to turn your Instagram account into a company profile, which new features will be activated and how to advertise your contributions directly via the app.
HOW TO SET UP OR ACTIVATE AN INSTAGRAM BUSINESS-PROFILE
The upgrade to a company profile is quickly implemented and requires only a few steps. The activation of a business profile requires an existing Instagram account.
The business profile is activated within the Instagram app on your smartphone.
Within the app, open the settings of your Instagram account by clicking on the small gear icon in the upper right corner. Then select “Convert to Business Profile” in the settings.
You will then be prompted to link your Instagram company profile to your Facebook page to buy instagram impressions. To create this link, you must be the Facebook fan page administrator.
The next step is to enter your company’s contact information, such as an email address, phone number, or business address.
THESE ADDITIONAL FEATURES ARE PROVIDED BY AN INSTAGRAM BUSINESS PROFILE
In addition to the additional contact options directly via your Instagram profile, business profiles offer a whole range of other exciting features. After an upgrade you have access to the statistics of your contributions.
You may already know statistics for posts from Facebook and they’re finally coming to Instagram with the company profiles. With the post statistics you can evaluate which were the most popular postings with your followers. You can access the statistics by clicking on the bar symbol (top right) on your profile page. You can also find them directly below each post, just like on Facebook.
Many useful insights – e.g. for the alignment of a campaign – can be obtained by evaluating your follower statistics. This is an aggregated breakdown of the age, gender and location of your followers. You can also analyze at which times of the day your followers are active on Instagram. In order to access this information or statistics, you need at least 100 followers on your profile.
Based on all this information you can then optimize your ad placement, for example.
INSTAGRAM BUSINESS PROFILE – ADVERTISE OR HIGHLIGHT YOUR CONTRIBUTION USING THE INSTAGRAM APP
Let us now come to what I believe is the biggest advantage of the new business profiles: Company profiles offer the possibility to promote or highlight native Instagram contributions.
And with this “Highlight” button, you can advertise contributions that have already worked organically well, for example, with just a few steps on Instagram.
I’ll show you how this works in the following steps.
#1 STEP: SELECT AN INSTAGRAM-POSTING WHICH YOU WANT TO APPLY FOR
First, you need to determine the Instagram posting you want to promote. Here it is advisable to choose contributions which have already worked organically well and have good interaction rates, for example.
Call up your company profile via the Instagram app and then select the entry you want to promote. Then click on the “Highlight” button below the corresponding posting.
#2 STEP: SET YOUR GOAL
After you have selected the desired contribution, you have various campaign goals at your disposal. Using the Highlight function, you can currently pursue the following goals:
Increase traffic to your website
Get more people to call you.
Get more people to come to your store or store
#3 STEP: SELECT A CALL-TO-ACTION BUTTON
In order to achieve one of these goals – e.g. to increase the traffic on your website – a call-to-action button is added to the selected posting in the next step, so that the user can click on this ad.
Click on “Select text for button” to select a text for this button. Depending on the button, you can then select your website, phone number or address as the destination behind it.
As soon as the application or promotion is active, the selected button will appear below your contribution as a clickable area.
#4 STEP: DETERMINE YOUR TARGET GROUP WITHIN THE INSTAGRAM APP
The next step is to specify who you want to reach with your highlighted instagram post. However, compared to the fancy targeting capabilities of the Facebook Ad Manager, the Instagram app currently offers very limited targeting capabilities.
Basically, you have two options at this point. Either you are lazy and let Instagram do the work of finding the right target group for you (not recommended), or you do it yourself.
I advise you to accept the manageable amount of extra work and determine your own target group.
